I personally would love to buy the Colby pants by La Ligne. That would be great for me. HOWEVER, I am four months into 365 days of my promise to not buy any brand new clothes. This is to reset my relationship with capitalism and overconsumption.
Does this new rule for myself suck? Yes. Did I have a baby a year ago and drop several sizes? Yes. Did I just lose everything I owned in the Altadena fire? Yes. Does it matter? Not really -- I can get great recs on Rec League (I am desperate for these pants, have seen them rec'ed here and am INSPIRED), and I can 1. troll The Real Real to buy them used, or 2. HAVE SOMETHING I CAN ACTUALLY PINE FOR AND LET JUST ONE ITEM TAKE UP THAT SPACE IN MY BRAIN. Let's see what happens to that desire.
What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore—
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over—
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?
